David Mellenby was a scientifically inclined British practitioner during the early 20th century. He was a close friend of Thomas Nightingale and possibly Hugh Oswald.[1]

One of his favorite sayings was 'everything is change.[2]

Theories on Magic[]

According to Hugh Oswald, Mellenby tried to formulate a physics theory that combined magic and quantum theory.

Casterbrook[]

David Mellenby went to Casterbrook in the same year as Thomas Nightingale.[3] Their school mates considered him to be a swot.[4]

Pre-War Collaborations and Fallout[]

Both German physics and magic were more advanced than their British counterparts pre-1939.[5] Mellenby was friends with many practitioners and scientists from this community, many of whom were German and other nationalities. Having a cohort of international friends and researchers was considered an unusual practice for a British practicioner at the time.

At the start of the World War II, he felt personally betrayed by his German friends for joining the Third Reich war effort. Later he would learn the scientific research he had shared prior to the war formed the basis for many of the inhumane Nazi experiments on prisoners--men, women, and fae alike.[6]

Operation Spatchcock, Ettersburg[]

Mellenby fought at the Battle of Ettersburg along with Captain Thomas Nightingale and Hugh Oswald. After securing the Black Library, Nightingale gave up his own seat on the return glider to David.[6]

Later Life[]

Mellenby committed suicide by gunshot in his laboratory sometime between 1945-1966.[6]
